The land
A land of hills and mountains, little known but rich in excellences, stretching itself between Monferrato and Oltrepò just where the Apennines begin and Liguria, Lombardia and Emilia meet Piemonte, in other words, the natural Doorway to Piemonte.
A borderline territory, a land of encounters, with many different names, made up of many different valleys, no matter which province they belong to. In this land, identity is not simply local colour.
Its history dates back to 10 million years ago when the valleys formed the bottom of a wide sea and are now laid with fossils and archeological evidences. A land of bridges, churches, castles, capable of producing works of art and music as well as traditional products, recipes and unique wines.

To the gourmand and the curious traveler who is passionate about the history of the places and the relations between people. To those who travel to experience, to grow and to be amazed.

How does it work
Doorway to Piemonte is a free app for smartphones which is able to gather information about the land’s heritage and biodiversity and at the same time acting as a showcase for local operators who owe their existence to this same identity.
Doorway to Piemonte gets its strength from being a multifunctional instrument:
It gathers information (with links, not copies) from local organizations, creating a network between them to offer an up to date list of what the land has inherited and continues to develop in the present. This heritage becomes a potential attraction offering multiple reasons to come and visit the area.
it promotes local economy in terms of gastronomy (restaurants, taverns, farm holidays), hospitality (hotels, B&B, mountain refuges, campsites) and local products producers (farms, winemakers, artisans, open air markets, workshops, but also e-commerce, swimming pools, golf courses, summer and winter holidays and all kind of events). Doorway to Piemonte offers the travellers all they need in order to enjoy the area to the full and to build a relationship which will help them to remember and return.
Geolocation. It allows the traveller to find their way to the place or event they want to go to. Doorwaty to Piemonte reduces to a minimum all problem related to how to get to a location and makes it easy to choose and find a place even when local road sign is insufficient. It is available in three different languages (Italian, English and French) for the benefit of foreign travelers.
Evaluation of what the land has to offer thanks to the travelers’ feedbacks. We think that people’s comments are the best, most honest and useful way to attract new travellers and at the same time to encourage and motivate local operators to always do better.
